According to the current design, we do not plan to use electrical energy directly in Joule effect. The heat pump is the sole supplier of heat. Its use is optimised by an artificial intelligence controller that takes many variables into account, including the output of the photovoltaic panels. 

The current design involves stratification over several temperature stages to optimise heat storage. These stages are located at heating and DHW (domestic hot water) temperatures respectively.

The target energy loss is 8%. The aim of the battery is to provide a daily storage solution and not to store energy over long periods.

No corrosive problems are to be expected with phase-change materials. We simply want to emphasise the importance of ease of maintenance in the design of our device.

A battery suitable for a flat is about the size of a dishwasher.

The Destore battery is designed to be implemented on as many different types and brands of heat pumps as possible. We believe that the choice of a heat pump should not be compromised by our universal solution. We therefore do not supply the heat pump.

Yes, the battery is not on sale yet. It is being developed by a partnership between the university and industry sector. Our aim is to market the battery by 2025. An MVP is planned for June 2023..

The Destore battery is designed to be able to operate at partial load, to adapt as closely as possible to the needs of the home. It stores heat on a daily basis. This means that the maximum storage capacity must satisfy the maximum daily heat energy requirement. Here is a table showing these values according to the type of dwelling: 

Storage requirements:

Flat - 90 m2: Domestic hot water 3.5 kWh, Heating 5 kWh, Total 8.5 kWh

2-front house: Domestic hot water 7 kWh, Heating, 7 kWh, Total 14 kWh

Villa: Domestic hot water 7 kWh, Heating 12 kWh, Total 19 kWh
